High School Juniors and Seniors: Jumpstart Your College Education!
2012 China Summer Adventure for High School Students
Give your son or daughter a jumpstart on college and a head start on life by joining the UW Colleges summer program to China. Based in the ancient city of Taiyuan, students will live with a Chinese family and enjoy weekend excursions to areas of interest including a remote mountain village and some of China’s most ancient historical sites. The program begins with touring to Beijing and Xian. High school students have an opportunity to earn up to four fully transferable college credits.
Immerse yourself in the culture and language of China in this four-week program open to Mandarin language learners of all levels, including beginners. You will be placed in morning classes appropriate to your level and enjoy cultural workshops such as Wushu and Chinese watercolor painting in the afternoons.

Administrative Application Fee: $200
Comprehensive program fee: $3,995
Comprehensive fee includes international airfare, tuition, meals, home stays, all travel and accommodations within China and insurance

About the Facilitator
Tim Urbonya worked as educator at both the high school and collegiate level in China for more than 12 years. Tim is Director of Continuing Education and Study Abroad for UW Colleges.
Participants
High school students participating in the program must:
- Have completed their sophomore year of high school at the time of travel
- Be at least 16 years of age at the time of travel
- Obtain at least two letters of endorsement from a counselor, instructor or principal..
An orientation session will be scheduled in April 2012.
To Apply
A $200 administrative application fee and application are due upon application. Application and full comprehensive fee payment is due by March 15, 2012. Please complete, sign and print out the following three forms:

Please submit the above three forms, along with a deposit check made out to "UW Colleges" and two letters of endorsement from a counselor, teacher or principal, to:

Insurance
All study abroad participants receive health insurance coverage while overseas as part of the comprehensive fee. Please read the following document for an explanation of that policy: Insurance Coverage
