Ecology of Costa Rica: Sea Turtles and Rainforest
This course will give students a unique opportunity to travel to Pacuare Reserve to participate in Leatherback Sea Turtle research and to a rainforest preserve to study rainforest ecology. Students will work along side researchers to patrol the beaches of Pacuare at night to collect data on nesting and hatching leatherback sea turtles. In addition to studying the leatherbacks, students will spend time restoring nesting beaches, exploring the lowland rainforest and its inhabitants and participating in cultural activities. Students will participate in a research project and then will visit a local university where they will present their research. The course will end with a day of white water rafting on the Pacuare River. Program Details and Deadlines.
