Mary Hankins has 40 years of teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) at all levels and overseas (Minnesota, Wisconsin, California, Japan and Vietnam). She has 24 years’ experience of teaching ESL for academic purposes at the college level. She has been with the English Department at UW-Barron County since 2008, specializing in the strengthening of writing and reading skills for both non-native English-speaking students and academically challenged U.S. students. Mary is a lively storyteller and tireless coach and advisor for all her students. She has a MATESOL from Azusa Pacific University, BA from UW-Eau Claire in Secondary Education for French and ESL (and certified K-12). She is also active in community theater and Vice President of the Rice Lake International Friendship Association.
