INSTRUCTIONAL LABORATORY/CLASSROOM MODERNIZATION AND GENERAL COMPUTER ACCESS - 1999-2000
PROPOSAL GUIDELINES
1. Deadline for initial proposals: December 30.
2. Proposals will be submitted as Word e-mail attachments, using the form below.
3. Proposals are to be copied by the deadline date to the appropriate department chairs for discipline-specific proposals so that they may have the opportunity to respond before final action is taken.
4. Proposals shoul meet critical needs as they are identified in campus technology and facilities plans.
5. Joint funding is be used whenever possible -- from external grants, county allocations, state building funds, student technology fees, and/or other sources.
6. Each campus dean may submit no more than five proposals (covering any or all categories); proposals are to be ranked 1-5, with 1 being the highest priority, and no "equal priorities."
FUNDING GUIDELINES:
COMPUTERS/MEDIA CARTS: The following models should be used as guidelines in proposal requests for computers and media carts. Any deviation from these standards should be fully expained in the proposal.
Computer purchases should conform to the following minimum standards:
PENTIUM PRO 200 or PENTIUM 2 200
32 MB RAM
24X CD
2.1 GB HD
3.5" Drive
Sound & Speakers/Headphones
Mouse & Windows
2 MB Video Card
(Upgrade to 17" Monitor recommended)
Awards will be made on the basis of $1,900 per unit, which includes funding for a network card and security device.
The standard configuration for a media/projection cart will be:
Epson 5000 SVGA projector
Computer, as specified above
One or two equipment carts, depending upon actual situation
Awards will be made on the basis of $8, 650 per unit.
SOFTWARE: Requests for software may not exceed $3,000 per project.
CONTINUING COSTS: While System guidelines allow for funding of continuing costs, we do not feel it is appropriate to use funds from this program for such costs when equipment modernization is such a crucial need.
