The UW Colleges Mathematics Department consists of 37 full-time faculty and over 75 academic staff, many of whom teach part-time. Many faculty are involved in pedagogical experimentation and others are teaching distance learning courses. Although the primary mode of instruction is the lecture, there is an increased use of alternate styles of teaching. In addition to teaching, faculty are expected to continue growing professionally through appropriate professional activities. Research and publishing are highly encouraged. Participating in university governance and/or service to the community is also expected of the department members.
