Placement Tests

Do you know about Placement Tests?

If students have previously studied French or Spanish, they may take a placement test at no charge to determine which course would be best for them. They should contact Student Services.

Do you know about retroactive credits?

If a student places into a 2nd-semester course or above and receives a grade of B or better in that course, he or she is automatically awarded credits for the prerequisite course(s). For example, if a student places into 2nd-semester Spanish (SPA 105) and receives a B, she or he will receive not only the four credits for SPA 105 but also four credits for SPA 101. These credits are free and count as elective requirements for the Associate Degree. For SPA 201, the student will receive eight retroactive credits, for SPA 205 twelve retroactive credits. The same is true for French.
