Federal regulations encourage each Institutional Review Board (IRB) to provide appropriate training to investigators in the rights of human subjects in research. The UW Colleges requires that each Principal Investigator (or, for student research, the Faculty/Staff sponsor) complete an online training module, effective Jan 1, 2013.
The following training modules are available for your use, FREE of charge. Completion requires 1-3 hours, depending on your reading speed and previous knowledge in this area. If you successfully complete the quiz questions, you will be issued a certificate of completion, which you should save and submit along with your IRB application.
You can choose either the National Institutes of Health (NIH) training, or the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative(CITI) training. For the CITI training, you must register as a staff member of UWEX (not UWC) and complete the "Social and Behavioral Research" modules.
