FULL-TIME INSTRUCTOR or PART-TIME INSTRUCTORS IN MATH
The University of Wisconsin Colleges Department of Mathematics seeks either a full-time instructor for a one-year temporary appointment OR part-time instructors for both the Fall and Spring semesters at the University of Wisconsin-Manitowoc, beginning in August, 2011. Teaching responsibilities in the fall semester will include college algebra and pre-calculus, spring semester may include college algebra, trigonometry and calculus I. A full-time hire would be responsible for the entirety of the load, and is expected to demonstrate qualifications at all levels, or potentially as full-time with qualifications through MAT 124 pre-calculus. Potential part-time instructors would be hired based on qualifications for individual classes or combination of classes during each semester.
Course Descriptions:
MAT 110 College Algebra
Definition of function; linear and non-linear functions and graphs including logarithmic and exponential functions; systems of linear equations; theory of polynomial equations, and optional topics such as mathematical induction, matrix solution of linear systems, and Cramer's rule.
MAT 124 Pre-Calculus Mathematics
Functions and graphs, including linear, polynomial, logarithmic and exponential functions: complex numbers and theory of equations; binomial theorem; mathematical induction; trigonometric functions, their basic properties and graphs; identities; inverse trigonometric functions; solving trigonometric equations; de Moivre's theorem.
MAT 113 Trigonometry
Trigonometric functions, their basic properties and graphs, identities, inverse trigonometric functions, solving trigonometric equations, solutions of triangles.
MAT 221 Calculus and Analytical Geometry I
Analytic geometry, functions, limits and continuity, the derivative, integrals, techniques and applications of differentiation, applications of integration, logarithmic and exponential functions, and trigonometric functions.
