The UW-Sheboygan campus is located in eastern Wisconsin less than an hour north of the Milwaukee metro area and an hour south of Green Bay. The campus is nestled on 70 acres of rolling wooded hills just east of I-43 and close to the downtown Sheboygan area and Lake Michigan. Position:

The Department of Computer Science, Engineering, Physics and Astronomy (CSEPA) and the Department of Mathematics of the University of Wisconsin Colleges invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Physics and Mathematics at the UW-Sheboygan County campus.

Title:

Assistant Professor of Physics

Required Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in physics or closely related field and evidence of scholarly activity in physics is required. Eighteen graduate credits in mathematics or mathematically intensive science, engineering or computing courses required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with successful college teaching experience, experience in interdisciplinary or collaborative teaching, and teaching with instructional technology or distance education teaching.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include a teaching load of 12 to 14 contact hours per semester in a combination of lecture and laboratory sections. The curriculum includes, but is not limited to, college algebra-based and/or calculus-based physics, introductory physics for the health sciences, introductory to physics, quantitative reasoning, and basic applications focused calculus.   As a tenure-track position, additional responsibilities include scholarly activity directed at either disciplinary research or research related to teaching within the discipline.  Institutional service, community service, and student advising are also required.

The UW Colleges is the freshman-sophomore transfer institution within the UW System. UW Colleges functions as a unit that comprises thirteen two-year campuses, each of which offers an excellent liberal arts and pre-professional education for students beginning work toward a bachelor’s degree.

UW Sheboygan provides a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering in collaboration with UW Platteville and is planning an Engineering Technology degree with UW Stout in electrical, mechanical, and plastics.
