ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PSYCHOLOGY

The University of Wisconsin Colleges Psychology Department invites applications for an Assistant Professor on its Sheboygan campus. The UW-Sheboygan campus is one of 13 campuses that comprise the UW Colleges, a freshman-sophomore transfer institution within the UW System. UW Colleges offers an excellent liberal arts and pre-professional education for students beginning work toward a bachelor’s degree.

The UW-Sheboygan campus is located in eastern Wisconsin less than an hour north of the Milwaukee metro area; with easy access to Chicago and Green Bay. The campus is nestled on 70 acres of rolling wooded hills just east of I-43 and close to the downtown Sheboygan area and Lake Michigan. TITLE: Assistant Professor of Psychology

APPOINTMENT: Tenure-track faculty appointment in the Department of Psychology

Contract begins August 27, 2012.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Psychology or closely related field from accredited institution.  ABD candidates will be considered, provided the PhD is confirmed by the start of the appointment.Qualified candidates must also have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship and research; experience in undergraduate education; and strong communication skills to work effectively with diverse array of students and colleagues.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Normal teaching load is 12 credit hours (4 courses) per semester. Courses taught include Introductory Psychology each semester, and annually may include Abnormal Psychology, Educational Psychology, Psychology of Childhood and Adolescence, Life Span Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, or other course related to discipline.  As a tenure-track position, this requires scholarly activity in the discipline as well as institutional and community service. Participation in campus, institutional and community service and the shared governance structure is expected, as is professional development as demonstrated by research activity.

SALARY: $43,000. Summer and Winter sessions offer additional teaching opportunities for compensation. A benefits package is included with the appointment.
