Position Description:
The University of Wisconsin Colleges Department of Business and Economics invites applications for a tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County. This position requires the ability to teach courses in principles of economics as well as other business courses.
As a transfer institution of the University of Wisconsin System, the UW Colleges consists of 13 campuses located throughout Wisconsin, which offer freshman and sophomore instruction in the liberal arts and pre-professional areas such as Business. The campus has a total student enrollment of 1303 with an FTE of 1026. With an emphasis on small classes and individualized student attention, UW-Marathon County offers outstanding liberal arts education at the freshman-sophomore level. UW-Marathon County is located in central Wisconsin and adjoins a 78-acre forested park near downtown Wausau. The city of Wausau has a lively arts community and abundant recreational opportunities. Qualifications
PhD in Economics preferred; Masters Degree in Economics with MBA required. The successful candidate will be able to teach at least the following courses: Introduction to Economics, Principles of Micro/Macro Economics, Business/Economics Statistics, Introduction to Business, and Personal Finance. Ability and willingness to teach other business courses are desirable, as well as teaching in interdisciplinary teams and working with the local business community. Experience in teaching online courses and other distance education modes of delivery is strongly preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with successful college teaching.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach an average of twelve credit hours each semester in economics and business, with the option to teach junior and/or senior level courses in a Collaborative Bachelors Degree in Business Administration offered at the Marathon County campus through UW-Stevens Point. To receive tenure in the UW Colleges, faculty members are expected to establish a record of excellence in teaching, a strong record of professional development appropriate for a 2-year liberal arts transfer institution, and provide institutional and community service.
Salary:
