Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences, Tenure-Track

Qualifications
Ph.D. in ecology or environmental biology or evolutionary biology or closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered, provided the degree is completed by the appointment start date. Preferences will be given to candidates who evidence successful college teaching, commitment to undergraduate education, and engagement of students within and beyond the traditional classroom.
Responsibilities
- The new faculty member should be able to teach our introductory courses
- Possibly develop and teach some of the environmental courses as online, accelerated or hybrid courses.
- Possibly one or more of the courses to be developed as interdisciplinary courses and to be taught in the second and subsequent years of appointment, at least once per year.
- Ability to teach either plant or animal biology.
- Candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, and must be willing to engage students beyond the walls of the traditional classroom.

- Either General Botany or Animal Biology, depending expertise
- Engage students in undergraduate research and/or service learning projects
- Participate in campus and departmental assessment of student learning.
- Continued commitment to scholarly activity in the discipline and/or the scholarship of teaching
- Participate in campus, institutional and community service.
- Advise new and continuing students.
To receive tenure in the UW Colleges, faculty members are expected to establish a record of excellence in teaching, a strong record of professional development appropriate for a 2-year liberal arts transfer institution, and to provide institutional and community service.
Brief description of institution, campus and area
The University of Wisconsin Colleges is the freshman-sophomore transfer institution within the world-renowned UW System. UW Colleges functions as a unit comprised of thirteen campuses around Wisconsin, each of which offers an excellent liberal arts and pre-professional education for students beginning work toward a bachelor's degree. UW-Fox Valley, located in Menasha, is the second largest of the thirteen campuses with 1,830 students. Menasha is part of the “Fox Cities,” a thriving economic and cultural center of increasing ethnic diversity. The Fox Cities are approximately ninety minutes north of Milwaukee and two hours from Madison. Nearby are Appleton, Green Bay, Oshkosh and Fond du Lac. The campus is also near Wisconsin's beautiful Door Peninsula, Lake Michigan, and the Northwoods of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Salary
Starting salary currently is $43,000. Additional compensation for summer and/or Winterim instruction may be a possibility as needed. Details of the excellent benefits package may be found at www.uwsa.edu/hr/benefits.
