Assistant Professor of Music
UW-Rock County
Position:
The University of Wisconsin Rock County seeks a dynamic individual for a full time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Music position in choral music as part of a highly visible and energetic music program.
Qualifications:
A Masters degree in music is required. A completed doctoral degree is preferred. Candidates who are ABD and nearing completion of the doctoral degree will also be considered.
Responsibilities:
Persons applying for this position should have adequate background in and be prepared to conduct Concert Choir, Small Vocal Ensemble, teach Vocal Techniques, Aural Skills/Sight Singing, and Music Literature and Appreciation as part of a 12 – 15 contact hour teaching load. Applied voice may be taught as an overload. The position requires promotion of the choral music program and the university to the greater Janesville/Rock County community, involvement in institutional shared governance, and campus, department and community - wide service. The position also requires work in recruiting new students for the music program and mentoring new and continuing students. Familiarity with use of technology in teaching is a definite plus as is openness to development and teaching of interdisciplinary courses, first year seminar and courses using distant learning technologies.
UW Colleges and the Campus:
The UW Colleges is the freshman-sophomore transfer institution with the UW System. UW Colleges functions as a unit that comprises thirteen two-year campuses, each of which offers and excellent liberal arts and pre-professional education for students beginning work toward a bachelor's degree. The Rock County campus is located in the city of Janesville, which has a population of over 60,000 residents and serves roughly 150,000 in the greater Rock County area. The campus is undergoing exciting renovations and additions and currently has over 1,000 students in many different areas of study.
