Position Description

The Department of Business and Economics http://www.uwc.edu/dept/BusEcon/ invites applications for a tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Business and Economics at UW–Richland. The transfer institution of the University of Wisconsin System, the UW Colleges consists of 13 campuses located throughout the State of Wisconsin. Qualifications

Ph. D. in Economics is preferred. Ph. D. candidates near completion will be considered. The successful candidate will be able to teach from the following courses: Introduction to Business, Introduction to Economics, Macro Economics, Micro Economics, Economic & Business Statistics, Money and Banking, Personal Finance, or other courses depending on interests and qualifications.  The candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to quality undergraduate teaching and learning. Successful teaching experience at the university level is desired.  Interest and/or experience in using instructional technology and distance education, teaching in interdisciplinary teams, and working with the local business community will strengthen the application.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach an average of twelve credit hours each semester in economics and lower level business courses. To receive tenure in the UW Colleges, faculty members are expected to establish a record of excellence in teaching, a strong record of professional development appropriate for a 2-year liberal arts transfer institution, advise students, and provide institutional and community service.

About the Campus

UW-Richland is located in Richland Center, the birthplace of Frank Lloyd Wright.  An intimate community of more than 5000, Richland Center is situated midway between Madison and LaCrosse.  Currently the campus serves nearly 500 students in a college environment that provides for small classes and individualized student attention.  Located in the driftless region, the area boasts an outstanding natural environment. Most of our graduates transfer within the University of Wisconsin System, primarily UW-Madison, UW-Platteville, UW-LaCrosse, and UW-Stevens Point.  However, our students have graduated from universities around the world.

Salary 

Minimum salary is $43,000. Summer and Winterim sessions may offer additional opportunities for compensation.  An outstanding benefits package is included with the appointment.
