Enrollment at University of Wisconsin Colleges hit 14,614 as of September 19, the official tally day. The total represents an increase of 1.6 percent over the fall 2010 enrollment. It is the seventh straight year of rising enrollment for the UW System’s network of freshman/sophomore campuses.
“The continuing growth of UW Colleges reflects a national trend of students seeking more flexible and affordable ways to achieve their educational goals,” commented Ray Cross, chancellor of UW Colleges and UW-Extension.
“UW Colleges campuses still have the lowest tuition in the UW System,” Cross said. The annual in-state tuition at UW Colleges is $4,503. In-state tuition at UW System universities ranges from a low of $5,970 to highs of $8,592 per year at UW-Madison and $7,669at UW-Milwaukee.
The UW Colleges increase includes a 19 percent growth in enrollment at UW Colleges Online, to a record of 1,595 students.
UW Colleges is the UW System’s network of 13 freshman/sophomore campuses and UW Colleges Online that offer an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree and prepare students of all ages and backgrounds for baccalaureate and professional programs. UW Colleges enrolled 14,378 students in fall 2010.
