Statement 

Lee Friederich has worked with international students in a variety of capacities, both as an international student coordinator through the Rice Lake International Friendship Association and as an instructor of English as a Second Language at Chuo and Sophia Universities in Japan. She has led several study abroad programs to Fukushima, Japan where one of Rice Lake’s sister cities is located. Lee has also developed several programs enhancing multicultural awareness on the campus, founded the One World International Club at UW-Barron County and serves as its advisor. She holds a graduate certificate of Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), as well as an MA and MFA in English and a PhD in Japanese Language/Literature and Comparative Literature. In addition to ESL courses, she teaches composition, literature, creative writing, and global studies for UW Colleges AAS and BAAS programs.
